Banke, Oct 6: The district authority here has set up a passenger help desk at Jamunaha border point in order to facilitate the travel of Nepalis from India in the wake of upcoming festivals, Dashain and Tihar.

With the major festivals approaching near, the number of Nepalis returning home from India is on rise.

Chief district officer of Banke, Dil Kumar Tamang, has said the help desk was established to curb the possible incidents of looting and frauds to Nepalis returning home for festival celebration. The facility on the border would help make their home arrival safe, he added.

“We’ve kept in centre the safety of citizens and enforced the security plan with identification of possible risk,” he said, adding that the help desk establishes contact with related agencies and provides information to those passing through the border point.

Chief of District Police Office in Banke, Angur GC, also said the desk would assist in curbing the criminal activities that could happen, taking advantage of festive season. Such facilities would be run even at bus parks of Nepalgunj and Kohalpur as well, targeting the public information to the Nepals returning home from India for Dashain celebration.

Both the staffs of Nepal Police and Traffic Police have been mobilized at the desks.
