Nawalpur (Nawalparasi), Sept 1: One hundred and fifty-nine bodies washed away by the flash flood that hit the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on August 26, and that were found in the Narayani River in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat–Susta East), have been managed.
Anil Pandit, the information officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office Nawalparasi (Bardaghat–Susta East), said that out of the 216 bodies found in the district, 159 have been managed so far.
DSP Pandit said that unidentified bodies kept in various hospitals of the district have been managed in local forests. He said the unidentified bodies were temporarily buried in Jyotikunja Community Forest of Kawasoti Municipality and Divya Madhyabarti Community Forest of Devchuli Municipality.
He mentioned that among the bodies managed in this way, 29 are women, 47 men, seven boys and seven girls. Similarly, 69 body parts have been managed. So far, the dead bodies of 47 women, 73 men, 11 boys, and 15 girls have been found in the district so far.
Out of the bodies found in the district, 17 have been identified and handed over to their relatives, Pandit said.
