Kathmandu, Aug 17: Nepali and Nepal Bhasa senior poet Durgalal Shrestha (Khwobilu) has passed away. He was 91. He died at his residence in Budhanilkantha on Sunday night, according to his family.
His body will be kept at the Nepal Bhasa Manka Khala office premises for paying of last respects today and the last rites would be performed tomorrow at Shobha Bhagawati.
He is survived by his spouse, a daughter and two sons.
Born in 1992 BS, Shrestha was a teacher for a long time at the Kanya Mandir Vidyalaya at Chhetrapati.
Shrestha’s first poem ‘Santwana’, was published in the Dharmodaya magazine.
He was conferred upon the title of ‘Janakavi’ from the Nepal Bhasa Parishad in 2060BS. Shrestha, the writer, became a member of the Nepal Academy in 2061BS.
