Sri Lanka, May 15: Visiting President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Monday attended a programme on ‘women’s empowerment’ organized by Sri Lankan Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka.
On the occasion, Sri Lanka’s Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs Chandrani Bandara welcomed and offered gifts to President Bhandari.
President Bhandari was also welcomed with typical cultural performance of Sri Lanka.
During the programme, Minister for General Administration Keshav Kumar Budhathoki said that women’s empowerment was crucial for any country’s development adding that discrimination against women, a common problem in the South Asia, should be reduced through collaborative efforts.
Saying that constitution’s implementation was needed for peace, stability and development, he familiarized about Nepal’s achievement obtained in the field of women empowerment.
Likewise, Bandara said that Nepal’s constitution was exemplary on women participation and empowerment.
