Kathmandu, Feb 3: Three major political parties and the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) are likely to resume talks within a day or two.
The UDMF is to sit for talks again with the government, following the completion of its weeklong programmes of protests based in the Tarai Madhes. Madhesi Front leaders have started returning to the capital with the completion of the protest programmes.
Mahantha Thakur, Chair of Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, one of the constituent parties of the UDMF, returned to the capital Wednesday. Similarly, leaders Upendra Yadav, Rajendra Mahato and Mahendra Narayan Yadav are expected to arrive by tomorrow, it is learnt.
The Madhesi leaders are to meet to discuss the matters relating to changing the course of agitation. Talks between the two sides remain suspended as two members in the taskforce constituted for facilitating talks- – Mahesh Acharya of Nepali Congress and Hridayesh Tripathi of Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party—were out of the Valley in connection with personal work.
According to Sadbhawana Party Co Chair Laxman Lal Karna, talks are likely to resume soon with the top leaders of the Madhesi Front returning to the capital from the Madhes. The UDMF meet very soon to discuss the change to the form of agitation, he said.
