Kathmandu, Dec 16: Lawmakers representing the Madhes-centric parties boycotted the meeting of Legislature-Parliament Wednesday. Those lawmakers walking out of the meeting were from the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, Tarai Madhesh Loktantrik Party, Sadbhawana Party and Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party.

With the commencement of the meeting, Sadhbhawana Party lawmaker Laxmanlal Karna accused the government of not becoming serious towards addressing the Madhes issues.

The Madhes centric parties were ready to let the bill on the reconstruction of physical structures damaged by the earthquake on the humanitarian ground, but the first constitution amendment bill registered in the parliament could not address the voices of Tarai Madhes, Tharus and indigenous nationalities and they were against it. He objected to the presentation of the bill despite the protests from the Madhes-centric parties. He called on the government to take the Madhesh issues seriously.

Likewise, Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party lawmaker Prem Suwal drew the attention of the government towards India violating Nepal’s rights to transport.
