Janakpur bomb blast accused Saha convicted on illegal arms possession case

Kathmandu, Sept 17: Sanjay Saha, former lawmaker and the vice-chair of Sadbhawana Party, has been convicted on the illegal arms possession lawsuit by the Supreme Court. He has been slapped one year and nine months jail along with the fine of Rs 5,000.

Saha, an accused in the 2012 Janakpur bombblast that had killed five persons and left 32 injured, is convicted on the case relating to the possession of weapons illegally dating back to some 12 years ago. A full bench comprising justices Baidhyanath Upadhyay, Devendra Gopal Shrestha and Cholendra Shamser handed down a verdict to his end, according to SC Spokesperson Nahakul Subedi.

On August 20, 2003, he had been arrested in possession of illegal weapons by the police from Sakhuwa Mahendranagar of Dhanusha.
